Sessions & Pricing
We offer a variety of Portrait Services, both in-studio and outdoors.
Our specialty is pets and animals but we're equally adept with human subjects! We love families, children, school seniors, and senior citizens! Engagements are a favorite and especially fun are Christmas Themed, Halloween and Mardi Gras costume sessions! Business head shots are in our repertoire, too. Visit our Client Galleries for examples of past sessions.
Our session fees range from $150 to $300 depending on the complexity of the shoot, the number of animals or people to be photographed. We don't put a hard limit on session length - I shoot until I get what I believe you and I are looking for. Unless you're pressed for time, we don't rush, and when working with animals or children, our patience is legendary!
Images are purchased a la carte. High resolution digital files with a personal use/printing license are $75 each and include a version for your phone and social media. Too many great images to choose from? We hear that a lot, so we've made discounted "Buy All" packages available.
Digital files make it possible for you to choose your own source for prints, canvases, photo books, or other products. We're happy to arrange those items for you if you prefer.
Our home studio is located between breaux bridge and lafayette, Louisiana
The studio offers the most comfort and convenience in a relaxed environment. You'll be able to review your proofs on computer at the end of the session. We're available for outdoor location sessions, too, weather permitting, within 30 a minute drive of Lafayette. Many picturesque locations are within that range including Lake Martin, Breaux Bridge, and downtown Lafayette.
For a $150 travel charge, we're game to take your shoot to a location within a 2 hour radius of Lafayette. That includes places like Avery Island, Jungle Gardens, Baton Rouge, Oak Alley, etc. Some locations require a fee to allow photography; this fee will be added to the session charge. You will be advised of any fees and the total cost of the session before committing to the shoot.
A $75 retainer is required to book your session. The retainer is not refundable if you cancel the shoot within 7 days of the session date. Balance of the session fee and any travel or location charges are due on the day of the shoot.
Frequently asked questions:
What happens after I book my shoot?
You and i will discuss your objectives, the location, how to prepare your pets, what to wear, and the cost of the session.
What do I need to do to prepare my pets for our session?
You'll want to have them recently bathed and groomed so they look their best for their portraits. We can do last minute touch up brushing and trimming on site but the main grooming should occur before the session.
You'll need to provide proof of current rabies and dhp vaccinations. This is for the protection of ourselves and our own pets.
Pre-session practice with the commands of "Sit" and "Stay" are useful but not required.
My dogs are pretty active. I'm not sure they'll behave well enough for a portrait.
We're quite skilled with active dogs and know a few tricks to get them to do what we want! It usually takes them a few minutes to settle down and figure out what we're asking them to do so we've learned to be patient. to be honest, the owners are often more challenging to direct than the dogs!
My pets are shy and don't always like strangers. do you think you can work with them?
Similar to active dogs, we have a lot of experience with shy ones as well. our own breed, the chow chow, is aloof and wary of strangers so we're used to working with that. We aim to keep our clients feeling secure, comfortable, and happy to be here.
We do reserve the right to end the session if the animal is just too stressed to cooperate or becomes aggressive. We don't want any animals or humans to be injured on our watch.
I love your puppy pictures! How do I arrange for portraits of my litter?
Puppies are our favorite subjects! We have a lot of fun at these shoots but they present different challenges than adult animals and require some planning.
For puppy and litter portraits in our studio, puppies should be at least 6 weeks old and have had their first series of vaccinations. For a successful shoot, you need to bring helpers. One assistant for every puppy is ideal, but we can usually work with one wrangler for every two puppies. You and your helpers must also bring along a good supply of patience and a great sense of humor!
I'm intrigued by your newborn puppy portraits. how are they accomplished safely?
These sessions are intended to take place before the puppies' eyes have opened and to mimic popular newborn human baby portraits. To minimize health risks to your precious puppies, we prefer to come to your home for the session and will wear booties, masks, and gloves if you require. Should you wish to bring your newborns to our studio, we will take appropriate precautions there as well. We are breeders ourselves and understand the needs of baby puppies.
